Nah, I wouldn't take it like that. It's obvious that you're just very eager to get the phone and your persistance is something that not a lot of people would have.
Main thing here is, not sure if you've ever worked in CS (Customer Service), but 1st tier reps (the first people you speak with, chat with, etc...) are always the LEAST likely to have concrete information along the lines of what you were trying to find out. They can only report what's put into the database (literally, whatever is in front of them), but it's the responsibility of the people above them to make sure that what is being indicated in the database is accurate.
In this case, it was obviously not a "high priority" to change the database to indicate anything different than the initial 9/2 release date. I rarely get disappointed when things don't go as initially planned, but in your case, at least you know the "new" date that's being given and the delay wasn't a "
TBD" delay.
