Re: Turn our 800w's into Treo Pros?

I just got back from an event where Palm showed off the Treo Pro. I got to play with it for all of 2 minutes. That was enough time to compare to my Treo 800 which I had in my pocket .

It's basically the same device, with the obvious differences. There is nothing revolutionary here.... except: the battery. They put a 1500 battery in something that is thinner than the 800! That is worth a switch to me anyday. My only complaint with the 800 is the fact that they put a Centro battery in it (all be it much, much more efficient than my 700 ever was). They made the battery thinner and larger to accommodate a thinner form factor... finally a company gets it!!!

So there is one major downside for me on this phone. They back cover is glossy black plastic. If you are any type of normal Smartphone user, be prepared for lots of scratches in the first week. This is where the 800 has an edge with the rubberized backing.

The rep from Palm said they will have a "version" of this phone for Sprint and Verizon eventually, but it probably will not be the Treo Pro. This phone was intended to be unlocked only. Stay tuned!

I doubt you would be able to refit the 800 to this casing... I would just hold out for the version coming to carriers. The battery and flush screen will be worth the wait.
