At any rate, when I was new to this and was reading freaking everything everywhere I ran into thet by member c3327101 called XV6800 Upgrade sequence and followed some of these directions.

What you guys are looking for exactly though is in STEP 2

STEP TWO
In the Hard SPL directory find this file, Hard_MFG_SPL_2.40_RUU_signed.nbh. rename or move it.
I just add a .DONE extension so the RUU won’t find it.
Extract this radio, Titan_radio_rom_3.42.40.zip and place the TITAIMG.nbh in the Hard SPL directory.

Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the same HardSPL directory, following the prompts until it says Finish.
This updates your radio on your phone

This is what I did and how I did it.

when i first started to get my feet wet in this area i used this method posted above. it is the least step involved flashing tut here. and it works...period.
there is the other thread that is some good reading and some really good tips on the whats and wheres to get it done, but you will also see the posts i made on thos threads my opinions on each thread--for good reasons.
one is the "advanced" thread, the other is the "novice" way to get things done.

and they both work.-i can personally confirm each one.

this hokie-pokie talk about that not being able to flash over usb is dead. it was dead when people said thanks to the o/p of the steps to flashing your phone.
