Re: comcast mail?

Well, when we first moved here we were actually going to have Comcast for everything (cable, internet and even phone), but they screwed that.
I would call the local telephone number and go through the menus indicating that I was a new customer wanting service. When i would reach somebody they would transfer me to the "proper department". What was happening was the local number was being routed to a national call center, but to set up service you need to talk to a local tech, so when the national call center would transfer me to the local number I was still getting to the national call center.
So I went to the local office, and since it was a brand new house, they said "we need to go out to the area to ensure we provide service, we will call you within 24 hours", guess what...no call. That happened a few times until they actually sent somebody out.
So the day came for the guy to do the install, it was a Saturday. Tech comes out, is intalling the modem (had already went with Direct TV by this time, which was already installed cause they had decent customer support).
Anyways, the tech finds out that the control box that our house gets plugeed into is dead. He states that techs will come out to fix it, by the following Tuesday and then somebody would be back out to finish the install.
Nothing happens, so I call the only POC that actually was useful, and by the following weekend, she states "you can go pick up a self-install kit".
So along comes Monday, a full week has gone by since the original install date, and this is what happens:
The lady at the desk says I can't pick up a self install kit, because the control box was not repaired yet. So I ask "why isn't it?" Lady tells me that once a second appointment is made for the install then the control box would be fixed.
me: "but that's NOT what I was told by multiple people."
lady: "well that's how it is"
me: "ok when is the next appointment available?"
lady: "Wednesday at 3:30"
me: "ok, book me. One thing though, what garantee is there that the box will be fixed by then?"
lady: "oh we can't garentee that it will be fixed."
me: "so, what you are saying is that we could be in the same boat, tech comes to install and the box is not operational?"
lady: "oh on, it will be fixed by then."
me: "oh ok, so you garantee that it will be fixed."
lady: "no we can't"
me: "but you just said that it WILL be fixed."
lady: "yes"
me: "so you garantee it."
lady: "no"
me: "so it's possible that it won't be repaired by wednesday?"
lady: "no, cause it will be fixed."
me: "are you even listening to what you are telling me? You are basically telling me two seperate things"
lady: "um.....um...."
me: "just have somebody out there, and make sure all the stuff works!" as I was turnign to leave.

Well, the control box was repaired buy Wednesday, and I had the cable modem installed and it all works. But the service can be crappy, it goes down at times with no apparent reason (OFTEN), and there is never an explanation as to why. The customer support is just terrible, but in my area they are the only providers for high speed 'net...so I am kinda stuck with them.
