Sprint Phone. MTS carrier.

I bought my HTC apache as an "unlocked" phone, only to find out the MSL wasn't reset, and probably the phone was locked. (I don't know what else I need to do to "unlock the phone")

I managed to find a tool that resets the MSL for me, and I now have a working Sprint Phone on the MTS carrier system. However, my phone still has Sprint written all over it. At boot the Sprint splash screen shows, in the phone app SprintPCS shows, etc.

The thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=27123 has a link to the OEM ROM for my carrier. When I go to flash it, I get a warning saying that this flash is not intended for my Apache.

My question. If a flash will essentially reload the ROM, and if I can flash Helmi's kitchen (haven't tried, but assuming here.) then is there a risk to flashing this phone with my carrier's ROM?

thanks.
