Perhaps you misunderstood me on the registry bit. The registry edit is not the fix, but the method of accessing the default unthreaded SMS program. Once you make the registry edit, try to access your text messages. There should be one sitting there unread... all your other ones should not be present. If they are, something did not take (and I'd try a soft-reset then access them again). Once you read the message in unthreaded messaging (if one is present), then you re-enable the threaded messaging by editing the registry once again, setting it back to 1.
