I have had it happen as well. Its do to some software oem or cab that corrupts the video driver running in memory. Once soft reset it works again. I only had this happen on one No2chem rom ages ago. I believe No2Chem pinned down the exact program but I am too lazy to go mulling through the old no2chem 2.0 thread.
