The ringtone plays through windows media through the OS. I am pretty sure of that. What you need to do is, using Resco Explorer, hold your styles down on the mp3 or whatever type of file it is. Then choose open with and pick windows media. Make sure you click the option that says to always use this program for the file type. After that you ringer should work again.....
