I've received nothing in the mail. I talked to a Rep yesterday, two actually, who told me that the migration is being pushed back to OCTOBER now. They were not forthcoming with why it got pushed back so far. The current option is a "port" which will allow you to move now but you pay out of pocket for the phones you want. Upside: No ETF.
I have several reasons to be very frustrated with Qwest right now.
1: I changed my calling plan in order to be ready for the migration. I wanted out of my Mogul, so I took a plan with no data, anticipating I would only use it for a week. Now I find out if I want to fully use my Mogul with its Web browser, I have to pay $1 a day until they migrate me. That will total out to about an extra $40 in Web browsing alone, when I could have just taken a smaller model phone and dealt with a slower browser.
2. I have been having problems with my Mogul on the last four==yes, FOUR==replacements. I am so frustrated with it now that I am thinking of just dialing down to a little flip phone until the migration, or just jumping ship altogether. I paid the $50 for the insurance and the Mogul still has the same problems it did, and I'm very frustrated.
3. Why can't Qwest just migrate its customers? We did not have this problem when they went to Sprint; they just had Sprint branded phones to sell to everyone. I didn't even see the software move, it just did. I think I remember maybe two days I had a problem with the network not letting me on, but then it fixed itself and all was hunky dory. I don't understand why this transition was even publicized if they weren't ready to do it.
4. Okay, enough ranting. In the long run, I have and still have choices about how this is going to go. I can port now if I choose, and I may choose just that to be done with the hassle. I'll keep you guys posted. I think I'd rather be out of the loop if they're going to give bad replacements and offer a 25% discount only on a more desirable phone. That doesn't sound like a good deal to me. The money I'll spend to get the phones I want might just be worth it for long term peace of mind.
I will now crawl up out of the whining pool. That is all.
