Im pretty sure I have the "bad" screen and I really don't see the big deal. It looks and works fine. When looking at mine in portrait mode if I tip it away it starts to wash out. if I tip it toward me it gets darker and will invert if I keep going. Tipping side to side does very little. It has a very good viewing angle in that respect.
I mean I have a 22" Apple Cinema display. So I know what a good screen looks like.
