Re: The Best Bluetooth device for the Touch......
I have a Plantronics Discovery 925 on its way. I will update my post with my results once I receive it.
I used to have the Jawbone 1 but have since given that to my dad since he requires talking to clients while driving.
My take on the Jawbone:
Pros:
The noise canceling worked with monotonous tones. I can't even tell my dad is driving.
Outgoing voice is pretty clear.
Incoming voice is decent.
Cons:
Noise canceling doesn't work with wind blowing around or the radio blasting loudly.
Even though the incoming voice was decent, it sounded tinny, so your ears have to get used to it.
Heavy, uncomfortable, and a hard fit. I got those jabra ear gels to help fit a bit better. it helped but it also added some weight and it still gets tiring.
What I hope to get out of the D925:
Weight ~8.5g vs Jawbone's 28.34g (+ some from eargel)
Fit/Comfort: the piece is held into the ear & not over the ear (for glasses). The mechanism used to keep it in place is interesting, almost like a spring loaded rubber piece to keep it in stable. The light weight helps too.
Clarity: I don't expect it to beat the jawbone but at least be usable. Having the extended boom closer to the mouth I believe should help here.
Time: ~5 hours of talk time. Thats plenty for me.
Of course there are going to be sacrifices here and there with form/fit/function. So I'm not expecting it to be perfect but from what I've read, it seems to satisfy what I need.
I've also owned the Moto HS850 and H700 but I don't remember too much about them except that the 850 is ancient and the 700 was much improved.
I use my S805's as my BT stereo headset. I think the music clarity is pretty good, I'm not an audiophile however and haven't tested other stereo headphones. Incoming is decent though. Outgoing is extremely susceptible to wind, but I've only used the phone when snowboarding.
EDIT:
Just received the 925. 1st impressions are good. Sound is clear and not tinny. The other parties can hear well. I swapped with my gf and it sounds real good to me. I have yet to test in a noisy environment, however. I tried all 3 eargels and the middle one was the most comfortable, and are pretty grippy so it doesn't fall out when I shake my head. Very light but still can tell it is in there. The charging case is nice addition.
