WMWifiRouter will not uninstall

I’ve seen at least one person here and a few over at XDA that have had this issue, but no one has posted a way to resolve it.

Here’s the issue: I’m running the new stock 3.56 ROM. I installed WMWifiRouter 0.91, then removed it in favor of 0.80 (I read it had some advantages over 0.91). I believe I then uninstalled 0.80 to reinstall 0.91 and then decided to give WMWifiRouter the finger. I guess it knew I wanted to abandon it completely as it won’t let me uninstall it now. I get the following error:

“Jorrit Jongma WMWifiRouter was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?”

I click “Yes,” but the program still stays on the list. If I try to reinstall it, it says the installation was unsuccessful.

I’ve tried the suggestions I’ve seen which include leaving the wifi switch on during the installation/uninstallation and simply deleting the folders, but nothing helps. Is there maybe a registry edit I can perform to just tear the program from my Mogul by force? How did such a clean little program become so messy? If it wasn’t so flakey I’d continue to use it.
