MIP mode for phone as modem

There is instruction elsewhere on here that i am sure everyone with sero is using to use their mogul as PAM

My question has to do with MIP mode setting. The instruction to for PAM use ask you to change the mip mode to Mobile IP preferred from Mobile IP only. Is there any reason to this? I was able to use my mogul as PAM with either setting. I also found that if i have the setting as mobile ip preferred, i can't connect to my laptop to sync with activesync.

Anyone else have any better idea or comment regarding the specifics of MIP modes (Mobile IP only, Mobile IP preferred, Simple IP only)? Anyone have similar experience? Thanks
