I never tried switching to Company view in PR4. I'm on pr5, and I just tried it to see if it would lock-up. No problems here.
I normally have it showing by name, and only showing the name (not #).
I switched it to show name and #, then to view by company and no problems.
I even tried filtering several ways, and typed a letter to filter by that, still no lock-ups.
I only have about 200 contacts.
