Then you just paid an extra $300-$400 to not be locked into a contract, but still have the same restrictions. The requirements probably don't have anything to do with your contract term, but with the phone you have.

Weird, I always thought you could just ESN swap pretty much any phone you want onto your account.
I have grand-fathered Vision from years back, and I never
officially upgraded to Power Vision... yet my M1 and my Touch have worked fine on my account--despite everyone telling me that I would have to change plans...
