the entry is supposed to be "Volumn", also upon further registry searching i also found the following reg entrys related to the startup animation

HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimationEngine

value = StartupAnimationEngine (String) = 1.0

and also

HKLM\Software\HTC\MASD\StartupAnimationEngine (String value = 1_0_814719_0

so it looks like you have to have the engine as well as the registry entrys for it to work
