by charger I mean the desktop device that lets you charge a spare battery at the same time you are charging a phone. Two different USB to Mini USB chords with several different PC's get same no USB recognized result nor illumation of charging light. Going straight off charging plug will initially illuminate charging light only to return later and find it back off. Your presumption of hardware issue (assuming I understand that the power pin may work but its the USB pins - communications and charging that are broke) is good to hear as I was assuming I would have to buy another one if it was alleged my tinkering with it was the cause of the problem.
