When setting up the account, put in
blank@gmil.com, or something similar...basically making it so the word gmail is spelled wrong. This will let you set the account up manually. After you finish inputting the settings in, complete the setup, then go back and edit the email address to spell GMail correctly. This is a known issue with Windows Mobile 6.1.
