I have been using PA on my Sprint Touch for over a year. The new version 2.0 is even better. Im not sure what problems you are having. I would download the PPC v2.0 as a trial and see if it works. I use the "Noplugin" skin which is great on the touch, as well as the "Touchable" skin.
Make sure you COMPLETELY uninstall the old version. If you do not you will have install problems. Check the support section on pocketmax.net.
