this just happened to me last week. i took my phone to the sprint store and they told me windows had gotten corrupted and this is something that happens (with windows). he said i had to do a hard reset, but to sync my phone before hand to insure i backed up my contacts.
i did this once i got home, hard reset my touch, and i had to reinstall everything i had added to my touch, unfortunately this is what you'll have to do...ironically this happened again this week end, and i had to do the same thing over again. i hope to not have a repeat a third time.
by the way when it happened the first time i was downloading software for weather apps to my touch from the web on my touch and i noticed the unresponsive keys later in the day when i went to send a text... when it says windows doesn't recommend the software don't download it, FYI
