Re: Opera 9.5 Build 1126 OEM

I loaded this yesterday, and all I can say is:

This browser is TEH SIHT!
I've tried lots of other WM web browsers, and this is the best I've seen yet for WM platforms. The user interface is cleaner and a lot more intuitive. It does a better job of predicting what you really want to do on the web.

This is a totally new GUI, and looks nothing like the previous Mobile Opera 8.x browser.

Hint: The interface predicts whether you want to Zoom In / Zoom Out depending on where you are when you double-tap the screen. Apparently, if you double-tap in an area that you were previously viewing, it assumes that you want to Zoom In. If you move the screen to an unviewed area (moving with your fingertip) and double-tap, it assumes you want to Zoom Out. It actually works pretty good, once you get the hang of it.

Hint: The little icon on the bottom with the number on it is the way you move through multiple browser tabs. The number indicates which tab you are currently viewing.

I do have a few minor gripes:
  • It seems a bit slow to load pages sometimes. I'm not sure if it is the Opera 9.x software, or my EVDO connection.
  • The "Auto-Full Screen" feature is nice when I want it, but a pain when I don't. The Opera software doesn't seem to recognize the pull-out keyboard as the default SIP, and sometimes goes automatically to Full-Screen while I'm in the middle of typing in a new web address. It would be nice if there was a manual button to go to Full-Screen, but I haven't found it yet.
Cheers!
