Re: Are the GPS settings hard-coded in these ROMs?
I had the same issues with my GPS when I first started to get my internal GPS to work. It would take forever to connect and only connect to a few satelites when it finally did. I used the stock sprint roms, but always stopped the customizations from running by doing a soft reset when the window comes up that says it's about to install customizations.
I have no idea what thread it was in now, but someone finally explained the source of this issue. In the sprint customizations, one of the installs runs a microcode patch. This fixes the internal gps issues. The best part of it is it's a permanant fix. Immediately after the customizations finishes, do another hard reset and stop the cusomizations from running. You don't need to run the microcode fixes ever again, despite any hard resets.
A note for people running stock roms on sprint, and avoiding the sprint customizations. In my experience, the IOTA.cab file in the extended rom needs to be run for data services to work correctly.
