I want to chime in that while this process worked for my Sprint touch, if I turn off the phone, as in press the power button once, it no longer comes back on.
I've got to hard reset it, but as long as I don't turn the power off (I think I mean turn the screen off), it will work.

I don't know if that is strange or not.
