i just called and said amessage told me it couldnt be authenticated. they said try 228 and all and i did...dont think it helps. so you can save some time and either A. do *228 and option 1 and 2 ... (active/find new towers or whatever) or you can just tell them that u did 228 already. they should switch you to a teir2 tech person. they can apparently change some settings from their end.
i assume based on various reports that they will disable the akey authentication requirement from their end.
i dont have an akey set on my phone and it works.
was extra annoying for me because i didnt have another line. they wanted me to be on another phone. so if u can, call them from another line. but it a relatively painless process. they shouldn't harass you or anything they probably just try a few things and it works. you really dont need to give them a reason. i said i just got my phone yesterday. which was the truth....maybe they figured it was an issue w/ the new activation.
