Ok first off are you using an SD card to playback the music from?
Interesting issue that I have seen in different flavors. I had the 5-10 sec skip at the beginning of a song and then it would be from there on. My problem had to do with the block transfer size of the SDHC card. It was set to 40 by default, which caused the skipping. You drop it to 20 and the world is right again!
