Sprint EV-DO has a much larger footprint than ATT's 3G network. It's as simple as that.
It's like having a brand new computer with a 56k connection. If you're primarily using it for the internet... but in the long run can't afford broadband internet why would you spend X ammount of dollars on a high performance computer when you could of settled for something a bit cheaper and use the money you've saved on the internet service.

they may have EVDO in alot more places, but the speeds are very inconsistent. i am simply comparing sprint's service, or lack of to my current service with at&t. i surf the web plenty on my tilt and while i was in edge coverage, never did i ever have a problem with the speed the pages loaded. i never needed to tether because wherever i was stationary, there was wifi available for my laptop. have you tried 3G yet? or EDGE?
