Re: WiFi Confusion

[QUOTE=keeperx;283467]ok i got my rom installed all custom and slick looking

First and foremost I dislike multiple questions posts because I believe each Q needs an A so here we go. As you likely already know, all of your Qs are already answered in the threads. We all know they are not the easiest to find but everyone encourages everyone to look. Over time (if you stick around that long) you will develop your own favorites Im sure.

First lets answer what kind of home router do you have. Is it a Linksys or DLink or Netgear, ECT. Second, is it set for a mixed broadcast (802.11B & G) because the 6700 will only do 802.11B. Secondly do you have your SSID set to "on" or "broascast" because if not you will not detect the router.

Now to answer your Q more directly and ASSUMING everything I mentioned above is correct you would normally go to your Wireless Manager (several ways of getting there) and turning on WiFi.

So if you dont know then you can go to Start -> Settings -> Connections -> and go to either WiFi (if it is already turned on) or go to Wireless Mngr (to turn WiFi on). From there you would go to Menu and WiFi Settings. Here is tells you whatever WiFi spots it can detect. Keep in mind it will not see those that have SSID off or only do 802.11G. So simply choose the network and it will load into the Configure Wireless Network screens. The first is just the name of the network so go next. The 2nd one tells you what type of Authentication and Encryption it is using so you have better know your encryption keys because you will have to enter them in here. The 3rd screen just go through by clicking "finish" and that is it. Once you have that you can go back to you Connections in Settings and make sure you have a IP and all other important info.

You are getting that error 37 because it is trying to connect to a Data line over a cellular band and if you do this you will be charged per kb you use so beware. This also tells me you are NOT connected to your home router and you need to retrace your steps like those I listed above.

Yes, when you are new that happens ALOT because there is so much to learn and most of us learn by doing, not reading. But eventually we work through it all. We all have been in your shoes so dont worry, its normal.

That program doesnt make you get online via WiFI but rather turns your device in to a "router" of sorts. So if you are using it thinking you are geting online tne you are a bit off track.

Likely so, go do the steps I listed above and make sure your router settings as as I listed.
