I kinda second that too. Instead of complaining about what the phone can't do rejoice at what it can. Do a search on the internet and you might find something free that does what you want. If you can't find anything then just deal with it. As far as I know the light flashes orange when you have missed calls, but I'm not sure about texts since I never miss any
