i have to say that i mostly agreed with you on this previously. however, after having a look here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26410 and seeing the results thereof, i am convinced that the GPS on the vogue is actually quite effective now. im not sure if there is anyway to include the ppst.exe mentioned in your rom and auto-install it (or just put it somewhere with directions), but i think it could/would make a GREAT addition (if that is how it works, everyone is saying to run ppst.exe on the new leaked sprint rom).

as per all of this, everyone can now have awesome gps reception and timing on their vogues! a few have said reception is as good or better than their BT receivers

So the important thing when evaluating gps changes/fixes/performance, is that your tests be consistent. WAY too many users have to wait 10 minutes for a first fix, make a registry change, and then exclaim miraculous improvements when the subsequent fix only takes 10 seconds.

I try to base my observations on (somewhat) prolonged use under similar conditions with repeatability being key, and ppst seems to have made a huge difference.

That's every bit as good as I was getting with my BT GPS puck!!!

No lock-ups or other issues all day.

Keeping my fingers crossed for continued testing...

Until companies incorporate the new gps drivers we will have to prime the gps. Google maps and Live search no longer need to be primed. I had 18 sats locked onmy way home today and I lock on to at least 10 while in my house.... Great JOB........

I will see how it works tomorrow morning after being in standby for 8+ hours.
not to mention the fact that a couple of the aforementioned people are fairly respected in the ppc community...(aka they prob know whats going on, been around the block a time or two).
