The no sound issue may be because the little metal clip inside your headphone jack at the bottom of your phone isn't released. You can use a toothpick to release it. play a song or something with media player on your phone so it is continuosly attempting sound - then jiggle it gently with a paperclip or a toothpick til you hear sound.
