The applications themselves cache your last location and will go there immediately upon starting the "use gps" option. I know I had assist working on the Altel ROM (and required all 3 things to fix, new GPS DLL's, GPSMode=4 and Sprint Server IP/Port).

I'd go to work, fire it up it would almost immediately (10 seconds) position me several blocks away. And a minute or two later SATs would come on line with pin point location.

Then I'd go home and it would do the same thing. Position a few blocks away then spot on with sats.

Sometimes it would jump to off the coast of nigeria and back again to the assisted position.

With Leaked ROM I have not seen an assisted position yet. It sits off the coast of nigeria or last cached position until sats come online. Sats are coming online at reasonable rates though. I'll try one more time at work and if I see no assist I'm gonna try the "new" GPS DLL's again.
