i downloaded audacity and it works pretty good. im sure you could probably use Nero as well, but audacity is a free & easy recorder/editer if you dont want to come out of pocket.

here is the link for Audacity Sound Editor: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

**after you install the program, also install the "LAME .mp3" encoder to export files you edit/create into .mp3

**after installation: go to edit/preferences, click on the "quality" tab and change the default sample rate and sample format. i use 22050Hz for sample rate and 24-bit for the format. you can adjust as you like to get the file size you want.

**you may also want to use the "amply" function under the effects tab to increase the sound. play the file in your PPC after you do the next step to see if the file is loud enough for you. (i use 10dB)

**export the .mp3 to a folder/place on your hard drive and save, then copy the .mp3 to the "windows/rings" folder on your PPC. (you may be able to export directly to the windows/rings folder....but i didnt see how)

EASY.....
