A "bare bones" rom will not yield you any more free memory than you are getting now. What you are getting is a rom with some freeware built in that is more useful than you may know. Regardless, I wish everyone the best of luck in their endevors as far as building their "perfect" rom. Biggest question, though, is whether or not it benefits the masses.

Isn't that a matter of opinion or assumption? Personally, I don't mind paying for software. For me, free doesn't always appeal to me. What someone else gets a total kick out of may not be of interest to me at all.
