Quick question, what OS are you using on your computer? XP or Vista?
Um maybe you can load the OEM HTM Sprint ROM and see how that works. (if you don't have sprint, don't let the customizations run, if you do, let it run it's course.)

Try using it with a few soft resets. If it works, move onto a custom ROM. If it doesn't, you can always relock it at this point and just do a warranty exchange or something.
