Re: Contacts from 700p to Touch

OK, well, replying to my own tread since I *finally* figured this out. The problem was that I was trying to send ALL my contacts in one Bluetooth transaction.

For anyone else who needs to port their contacts from a POS device (which stands for Palm OS, of course ) to the Touch (or probably any other WM system, here are the steps:

1) Establish the Trusted relationship between your Treo and your Touch. (Hint: If you haven't done much Bluetoothing, you need to enter the same security code on both machines. This is to secure the connection, and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the lock or security code for either phone!)

2) Congratulate yourself. The hard work is done (at least if you take much of your free time over 2 days trying to figure this step out ). From here on out it's just tedious...

3) On your Treo, go to Contacts

4) Select the Contact to send. I found I needed to use the 5-way to move the highlight to a contact without actually selecting it. YMMV

5) Tap the header location where the main menu bar would be if it was showing (upper left corner).
- The menu bar will appear with the 'Record' sub-menu dropped.

6) Tap 'Send Contact'
- The 'Send With' window displays
- 'Bluetooth' should already be selected in the list. If not, select it.

7) Tap 'OK'
- The 'Discovery Results' window displays
- Set 'Show' = 'Trusted Devices' if it isn't already set to that
- If your new phone is not in the list, return to step 1 (anybody else remember GOTO? )

8 ) Select your new phone from the list

9) Tap 'OK'

10) Treo should send contact info. You'll see a few progress messages flash, then you'll end up back at your Contacts window. Move to the next contact to send as Step 4 above.

11) Repeat Steps 4 - 10 until you have sent all your contacts. You can ignore the message(s) on your Touch about saving the contacts. After you're done sending the contacts, you will have a 'Save All' option that will let you save all the records with one click.

Sorry this is so long. I thought that maybe others would be as clueless about this stuff as I was. I sure would have loved a step-by-step for this. Anyway, Happy Bluetoothing!
