okay, ive noticed this so far..
if you dont use gps for a while it definately turns off.
when you wanna fire up a map you have to wait about 2 min for a lock.. once you get that lock you can close and open gps apps many times and you wont have to wait for a lock. Theres obviously a timer that tells the gps to turn off when not being used...

Thanks Torx. I just tested connected to my laptop. Here is the result:
Just as a test, I drove 45 miles home from work with GPS on the whole way tracking my route via Live Search. It never stopped. I did notice earlier though that it does go off if not being used. I just started the GPS finder software and then went back to live search which took less than 20 seconds for a lock.
