Nothing hard about that, unlike Sprint, Alltel doesn't keep a database of valid ESNs.
They will attempt to activate any ESN for any phone from any carrier.
The only hard part about it is when I called to do an ESN change to my Mogul, the person on the other end was in India. This time was strange, because I understood her better than she could understand me. I had to repeat stuff 3+ times. Normally it's the other way around, I usually have to ask them to repeat things.
