So, there is no "Device Manager", but there is just a tab called Devices.

Things are named:
$device\xxx(xxx
and the column next to it is the status of the device. Sound right?

So, I looked again and I missed it the first time, but there is a device called "GPD0". It is running the gpsid_qct.dll.
I was able to load the device.

There is another device that looks relative called "GPS1". It runs viser_gps.dll.
I can't load it.

The only other thing I saw that was relative was the service (under the services tab) "GPC1". It runs GpsDaemonService.dll.
I cannot start it.

I also just noticed that GPSID_QCT.DLL is linked to COM4, so I am gonna try and see what I can get out of that with live search or system prefs, because I believe you can select a com port for an external gps. Maybe this will trick it into working. :-/

@ wnbowman: make sure you *228 your phone and press 3. (htc's instructions)
My phone kept flashing the roaming triangle too. Technically I'm out of my home area, but I just change the SID back when I go from Clemson to Charleston.
hgray,

I had the same problem before regarding GpsDaemonService.dll i could not start the service, I was receiving the same error message as you are, but I found another version of the file some where else and I was able to start the service. I will look and see if I had saved a copy of GPSDaemonservice.dll somewhere its been a while since I last attempted to get GPS going on our phones.

I uploaded the file not sure if this is the correct one. I do not a valid phone to test it.
