Their phone needs to support bluetooth OBEX for it to work.

I've sent a bunch of things to my friend's blackberry via bluetooth.

So, make sure their phone supports bluetooth obex or opp or ftp.

from file explorer you tap & hold and go to "Beam file.."

Note: this feature supports both bluetooth and IrDA (infared) transfers)

after several seconds of "searching" if your friend's phone's bluetooth is turned on and set to be "discoverable" it should show up in the list, and from there you can proceed to tap it, and send the file.
