Re: Tether Mogul to a laptop for GPS functions?

ok, i figured out how to do it. i have only done it with the USB cable, as i do not have a bluetooth receiver on my laptop, but the bluetooth is supposed to work too if you select it. first get GPS2Blue http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html install that on your PDA and then follow the directions at http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2BlueFAQ.html#USB

where it says "How to use with TCP/IP over USB" step 3 is supposed to work, but i have x64 and HW VSP does not work for me. so i use eltima serial to ethernet connector http://www.eltima.com/products/serial-over-ethernet/ i had to change my GPS com from com3 to com2 on my mogul to get it to work.

you just use the first option "Share serial port for incoming connections (server)".

where it says "Select Serial Port" choose what virtual port you want to create (i used com5).

click the "advanced mode" button in the top right corner then click on the "Connection prefs" then unclick the "Start listening for incoming connections only when local virtual port is open"

click "Create connection" from there go back to http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2BlueFAQ.html#USB and start back at step 4.

now you should be able to open your GPS software on your PC and use it. i have tested it with streets and trips, and it worked fine.

the license for eltima is $100, so if anybody finds a freeware like HW VSP that works with x64, let me know. thanks.
