I am still doing this without any problems and am using the 3.0.1 DCD ROM (before that, I used the pre-release version of the DCD - 2.3.2?).

Anyway, I connect the car-power adapter to the USB connector and the 3.5 plug from the cassette adapter to the audio plug. If this functionality stopped working, perhaps its the plug on your phone that stopped working. Also, it may be the adapter. I have purchased a few aftermarket connectors, and have had mixed results.

- 2.5 audio / mic adapter: mic works & one side of the stereo headphones work (forget which side). Both headphones work if I push at an angle on the connector going into the phone. I believe this is due to the adapter.

- 3.5 audio out only: worked fine but was cheaply made, and wore out after using it for a few weeks to connect regular headphones to my xv6800.

- replacement y-connector with mini usb/3.5 audio: I lost the one that came with my xv6800 and had to order a replacement. Its not as well constructed as the original but it works.

Had to laugh at the crack about "what is a cassette". Mind you, I cannot think of the last time I actually used a cassette in my cassette player. I am still driving my '95 Subaru (188K+ miles) -- its from the era when they did not equip cars with AUX inputs
