Can you give me an idea of what you did on your ALLTEL version to get it to work and any problems you ran into...???
like what software do i need and what steps do i need to follow to get it all functional on my phone which is an Alltel version.

Assuming you have a stock phone and haven't already flashed anything to it its pretty easy. First do a search and read everything you can on the flashing process itself. There are several good tutorials in the stickies here and on xda-developers site. I cooked a DCD ROM after spending some time reading about how to use a kitchen...its not hard..but also not necessary...there are 'precooked' custom roms everywhere that will work fine. Some simple rules....backup all your data first...write down all your EPST settings in case you screw something up. Make sure you can connect to your PC via active sync. You must match the 1) bootloader 2) ROM and 3) radio. Problems people are having are often caused by using the wrong combinations of radio/rom/bootloader and it mucks things up. First unlock your phone with Olipro 2.4 (also called hard-SPL or titan unlocker) follow the directions exactly and carefully. At one point you'll be asked to disconnect your USB cable and then immediately reconnect while doing the unlock procedure. Then you'll be left in the 'bootloader screen', a red/green/white screen. Stay connected, now we want to get the updated radio on to enable GPS etc. and the least troublesome method is to flash the recently released Sprint rom (serach for it). You simply click on the .exe and it starts a Rom Update Utility (RUU). The process takes time and your phone may reboot several times and pause awhile at various stages in the update....be patient. Finally, the phone will reboot and you'll see the Sprint logo spinning across the screen and it will say to tap the screen to begin the customizations....DO NOT TAP THE SCREEN. Leave it alone....don't soft reset or anything...your phone will reestablish an active sync connection. Now just like the Sprint ROM....start the RUU for your custom ROM (make sure its an ALLTEL ROM!!!)..the process will now start for the custom ROM and proceed similar to the Sprint ROM. This time when it finishes you can allow any customizations to run by tapping the screen. Now you can check your EPST settings but nothing should have changed...if it did you can dial **228 and update some information in addition to manually editing your EPST. I think I got everything....like I said theres lots of better tutorials out there but this should give you an idea of what to do...some suggest hard resets after initial install of final rom and others suggest removing battery for a moment and then reinstalling. I had no problems with my rom and everything worked great. Alltel makes it kinda easy too cuz they don't lock up their phones like some carriers.
