Oh hey that's gotta be it, I forced evdo right before I started flashing roms, I wasnt aware of the sms side effect - HOWEVER... I just flashed back to the stock rom and it seems to work properly even with hdr only preferred mode set.

I've tried the omj and derek roms and yes I hard reset immediately after flashing, think I'll try ghettofreeryders next, see if that works any different.



I forced evdo because I've got one of those test-market sprint airave routers, it seems to provide 1xrtt (I think that's where it's coming from) and my evdo reception is weak where I live; if I leave my phone out overnight without charging it sometimes the battery is dead in the morning presumably from switching back and forth between data types.

for the record, if airave comes to your market and you see that it's coverage area is 5000 square feet, if you do the math for area in a circle that ends up being an approx 40 foot radius
