Re: Bluetooth connect to GPS for phone

I'm having a similar dilemma. But to answer your question, the Treo can be used as Hands Free, I think it may depend on the GPS though.

I recently purchased a Garmin nuvi 780. I wanted it for the same things you mentioned. It works as a speaker phone, but that's about it.

I can't transfer my contacts or phone numbers. And I can't dial through the GPS. I can connect to it as Hands Free, but it's limited. If an incoming call comes in, I hit "answer" on the GPS, and also have to hit the green phone to answer it on the Treo, and talk through the GPS. And if I want to make a call, I have to dial it on the Treo, and then the audio comes out of the GPS. Another quirky thing, if I call a LAN line, I have to hang up on the Treo to disconnect the call even after the other party hangs up. But if I call a cell phone, once they hang up, I'm disconnected.

From what I understand, it's the Treo's limited bluetooth capabilities that makes things difficult. Some things work, but not entirely.

Good luck!
