The main splash is 320x320, and you will see different portions of the image depending on whether you are in landscape or portrait...hence, the "cross hairs". If you choose a 240x320 image, you will have a black stripe down the right hand side in landscape.

You were able to right click in the 6.0 kitchen for additional info, too.
