Re: Microsoft Licenses Flash Lite 3...Finally

Unfortunately no. The highest Flash Lite version currently available for the Windows Mobile platform is 2.1. We will have to wait until MS and Adobe come out with their update, which will hopefully include current devices and not just devices running newer versions of Windows Mobile.

I think this announcement explains the lack of development in Flash support on WM over the last 3-4 years. Adobe could have released updated players after Flash 7 for PPC, but they were probably holding out to get MS (and other carriers/device manufacturers) to purchase licenses for newer Flash products.

The more I think about it, the more I doubt we'll see this on current devices. If MS is paying for the Flash Lite 3.0 license, they will want to pass on that licensing cost to manufacturers like HTC who buy WM licenses. Also, this announcement was just made a couple days ago, and MS and Adobe still have to iron out all the bugs before this goes into production. I suppose it is possible this could be included in a future WM6 AKU, but I think it is much more likely to come out with WM7. Especially since we're getting closer and closer to the end of WM6's lifespan.
