trying to port the radio -and even if you dont want gps, its still packaged with the new rom, and people have been trying to get the radio and gps to work to no avail. If it was that easy, believe me my buddy, it would have been done. You can find the extracted 3.35 radio on the ftp somewhere, but unfortunately it isnt as easy as you may think it is.
