In fact the standard Sprint connection

Sprint around 1800 while the manual DNS 1500-1900 but varied quite a bit.

Does anyone have any experience with the speed of the other DNS Servers listed in one of the first posts.

DNS servers have nothing to do with throughput speed. Switching DNS servers will only provide a faster translation from a domain name to a IP address.
