Im not sure exactly, but you aren't going crazy and it is a conflict between the cube and the Home. The stock Sprint Touch home plugin doesn't even have the contacts tab available, most likely because of the conflict.

thanks, looking into that right now...i found some tweaks for city in hhc, but nothing that pertains to contacts--will report back.
