Do you have any other apps auto syncing? Why don't you use push for mail? That way the phone never has to go out and "check" for mail at a set interval.

As for drain, it's expected the drain is going to be worse than WinMo - first off, it's a port. I'm sure there's things we're doing that could be done more efficiently - or perhaps a piece of hardware we're not properly spooling down. Heck, before we had panel collapse the phone would die in just a few hours.

With that said, I know you don't want to hear this but the #1 thing to improve battery life? Disable data when not in use. Your battery life will skyrocket. The Speed Improvements thread has some tips that may or may not help with battery life, just general application management tips really that could help with life.
